Reasons  for J&K Assembly Dissolution

In an analytical article daily Roshni writes that Governor’s reasons for dissolving Assembly were – i)Making of a state government not possible ii) the horse-trading in winning the support of members iii) claimed numbers not being correct and iv) critical security situation.  National Conference (NC) leader’s statement and Congress not making its support clear, show that first reason was correct. As far as numbers are concerned, the veracity of the claim could be tested only on the floor of the house. Nevertheless, security situation has been very bad since the operation all out was started and there has been lot of bloodshed.

Governor’s rule and Public grievances

Governor’s rule seems to have brought about a change in the context of tackling peoples grievances, writes daily Roshni. According to daily, Governor has established a grievance cell for tackling grievances of people. Governor’s advisors have been meeting people and delegations. The Advisors have been directed to supervise the settlement of grievances in the departments under their control. A winter secretariat has been installed in Srinagar to look into people problems during winter.

A scandal of 23,000 crores?

The J&K Governor has cancelled the Group Mediclaim Insurance Scheme that had been enforced during the last days of previous Governor’s rule, writes daily Roshni. According to daily the policy was made compulsory for employees and optional for pensioners. The government enforced the scheme, and even first premium was deducted from employee’s salary. Employees had found the scheme not reliable and pointed out the same to advisor. Governor says he personally examined the scheme and found it to be a losing bargain, and full of irregularities. Now that it has been cancelled, the Governor should see that the premium paid by employees is re-imbursed to their accounts and those who were involved in the conspiracy be taken to task.

The end without a beginning

 In an analytical article daily Roshni writes that hopes had emerged that India and Pakistan would forget their past bitterness and move on to build a good relationship and solve problems. Imran Khan had asked for restoration of negotiations to solve problems. Prime Minister of India had also given a positive response. It had also been decided that the foreign ministers of two countries would hold a meeting in New York on the sidelines of UN Gen. Assembly session. During Vajpayee’s time, many confidence building measures had been adopted. But this time, suddenly the meeting has been cancelled, because of killing of police personnel by militants. The people hope better sense will prevail.
